Wind Resource Maps

VERA provided wind resource maps for each of Vermont's 14 counties to the Vermont Department of Public Service in May 2004. These maps illustrate estimated average annual long-term wind speeds at two heights above ground based on large-scale (200-meter horizontal resolution) wind maps produced by AWS.

These county-scale maps estimate wind resource at 30 and 50 meters above ground are available for download below in pdf format. The 30-meter height is appropriate for residential-scale wind turbines. The 50-meter height is appropriate for taller wind generators, and can be requested by contacting
